Chartered Accountants Call For Volunteers

CAVA, the Chartered Accountants Voluntary Advice service, has today issued a call for more qualified chartered accountants in response to the growing demand for its service from recession-hit owner-managed businesses. Increasing its network of volunteers will enable CAVA to roll out its valued service in more locations across Ireland in 2011.

CAVA was established in 2008 by the Chartered Accountants Leinster Society and is run by Chartered Accountants in Ireland who offer their time and services free of charge to individuals who are not in a financial position to acquire these services elsewhere. This week, Ireland joins other E.U. countries, such as Finland, Germany, the Netherlands and Belgium by offering an Enterprise Exchange Programme for new entrepreneurs.

Funded by the E.U. Commission, the Erasmus for Young Entrepreneurs Programme enables ‘new’ entrepreneurs in Ireland, who are in the early stages of business development, to be matched with experienced entrepreneurs abroad.

To date, over 530 new entrepreneurs from various European countries have travelled to another European country for up to six months to learn management skills from ‘experienced’ small business owners, who run established businesses. The same programme, to be launched in Ireland today, will also enable new business start-ups from abroad to travel to host entrepreneurs in Ireland, exchanging skills and market knowledge. The Executive Committee of The Insurance Institute of Ireland (III) has announced the appointment of Eamon Shackleton, to the position of Chief Executive Officer of the organisation. Eamon takes on this position having previously served as The Institute’s Chief Operating Officer for the past year.
