{"id":728,"date":"2013-02-19T17:58:45","date_gmt":"2013-02-19T17:58:45","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.thebizsense.com\/za\/?p=728"},"modified":"2013-02-19T17:58:45","modified_gmt":"2013-02-19T17:58:45","slug":"sa-japan-sign-investment-pact","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.thebizsense.com\/za\/news\/sa-japan-sign-investment-pact","title":{"rendered":"SA, Japan sign investment pact"},"content":{"rendered":"<div id=\"attachment_729\" style=\"width: 550px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><a href=\"http:\/\/www.thebizsense.com\/za\/files\/2013\/02\/SouthAfrica-Japan.jpg\" target=\"_blank\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-729\" class=\" wp-image-729 \" title=\"South Africa - Japan\" alt=\"South Africa - Japan\" src=\"http:\/\/www.thebizsense.com\/za\/files\/2013\/02\/SouthAfrica-Japan.jpg\" width=\"540\" height=\"270\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.thebizsense.com\/za\/files\/2013\/02\/SouthAfrica-Japan.jpg 600w, https:\/\/www.thebizsense.com\/za\/files\/2013\/02\/SouthAfrica-Japan-300x150.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 540px) 100vw, 540px\" \/><\/a><p id=\"caption-attachment-729\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">South Africa &#8211; Japan<\/p><\/div>\n<p><b>Pretoria &#8211;<\/b> The Department of Trade and Industry (dti) and the Bank of Tokyo-Mitsubishi UFJ Ltd have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) that will see the two parties collaborate in increasing Japanese investment into South Africa and strengthening relations between the two.<!--more--><\/p>\n<p>The MoU emanates from a visit to Japan by Trade and Industry Minister Rob Davies last year, where both parties agreed to collaborate in the area of increasing Japanese investment into South Africa.<\/p>\n<p>Speaking to <b><i>SAnews<\/i><\/b>, dti Director General Lionel October, who witnessed the signing of the MoU on Tuesday, said that South Africa had seen an increase in Japanese investment into the country.<\/p>\n<p>He cited Toyota as an example of one of the companies that have invested and grown its business in the country.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe now want to expand, using South Africa as the base into the African continent.
